It’s more than just numbers…
it’s a firm where you feel comfortable right from the start
The summer vacation program at Pitcher Partners is one of our most popular student programs. Each year students in their penultimate year apply to join the firm to gain 4-weeks of work-experience during the Uni summer holidays. This program provides students with a variety of experiences, including the opportunity to visit a client and undertake practical work with more senior staff members. Vacationers also learn how to use key software packages, are exposed to working in a corporate team and gain experience with time management.
Our Vacation Program has a career development focus. Vacationers undertake a number of technical and soft-skills training sessions, complete a challenging group project, attend a series of career information sessions and are actively involved in a number of networking events.
The top performing students during the Vacation program are often offered a position with the firm as a Graduate upon completion of their degree.
What to expect as a Vacationer…
“I had never worked in an office environment before, so I didn’t really know what to expect before beginning my Vacation position. Friends of mine that had worked at one of the bigger firms had described a competitive, stressful and often overwhelming situation. However, this preconceived notion of the corporate world quickly dissolved as I immediately found the people of Pitchers welcoming, accommodating and genuinely willing to help. In regards to my expected workload, again I was not really sure. I found that I was forced to learn quickly, often doing things that I had never done before, but when I wasn’t sure, help was easy to find.” James (Vacationer – Risk Services)
Quotes from Vacationers –
"My time here at PP has been excellent…great people and environment! It was great to obtain client exposure which helped me to understand and apply some knowledge I had learned in university. The vacation program was developed really well and has definitely kept me busy over the past 4 weeks."
"The program has provided a good insight into the industry. I thought it was very beneficial in that we were able to meet a range of people from different divisions and gain a greater understanding of what goes on. The bonding activities as a vac group were invaluable. This made all of us feel welcome and not alone."
Applications for our 2010/11 Vacation Program close on Wednesday the 25th of August, 2010. To apply please upload your Resume, Cover letter and Academic transcript via the link from Current Vacancies when applications open.
